Open letter to members
To all members:
As you know, our most important event of the year, the annual Game Dinner is just around the corner. As seems to be the case every year at this time, we still have a lot of tickets to sell. The club doesn’t believe it is asking too much for every member to buy and sell Game Dinner tickets. Unfortunately, selling tickets is not the only issue we face to make this important event a success.
The Executive Board meets prior to the game dinner to assign work committees. If you are healthy and able, we need every member to step up, willingly, and work where the Board believes the most help is needed. One such area is CLEAN UP. Not everyone needs to be on the ever-popular Set Up Committee. The more members we have to clean up after the dinner, the faster it will be done and the faster we can wrap up the evening. If we want our Game Dinner to be a great and profitable event, this has to be done. Our only other option is to hire a clean up crew. This obviously would be an added expense and we should not have to resort to this. But ... the club may be forced to absorb this unnecessary expense if we cannot get over the feeling of some members that they are being “demoted” to do clean up work.
Membership dues have remained low primarily because the annual Game Dinner has been a very successful fund raising event and they will continue to stay low if every member takes an active part in our Game Dinner.
Cutting to the chase, we need every member to help regardless of your years in the club.
I thank those members who always and freely volunteer. This issue will be discussed again at our February meeting and any questions and concerns you have at that time will be answered. Suggestions to resolve this participation issue are always welcome.
